POLICY CONCERNING OVERDUE BOOKS AND MATERIALS

Due to the large number of books being checked out and not returned, or returned far beyond the due date, the Library Board has directed that the overdue book policy be strictly enforced. Patrons will be assessed the fine of 5 cents per day, per item, for overdue books and magazines and $1.00 per day, per video. Labrary materials which are lost or damaged must be paid for.

No new books or materials may be checked out by any patron who has books that are overdue or fines that are not paid. Patrons with overdue materials will be notified twice by mail. If there is no response following the second notification the Library Board will seek legal redress against those who have not returned library material within a resonable time after the due date.

This policy is neccessary in order to preserve the integrity of the library collection and to provide better service to the public.
